Metro is devoted to
obeying the great commission: to go and make disciples of all nations. As we go and make
disciples of these nations, we are committed to equipping them to do the same.
Consequently, each new church and it’s leadership will represent the people and the
culture from which it was birthed and they in turn will reproduce themselves in their
regions of influence.In September of 2002, Metro initiated it’s first internship
for equipping college graduates to serve in a foreign mission effort. Rachel Bowers, David
Burcham, and Stephen Plank completed their stateside training with Metro at the end of
November. On January 12th, they arrived in Lisbon,
Portugal where they are serving alongside Paul and Rosana Silvestri, in the
Lisbon church of Christ.
In 2000, Metro planted it’s second Russian church in Novosibirsk,
Siberia. Presently, there are three American missionary families serving the
church in this city of 2,000,000 souls. Although still in it’s infancy, the church
continues to move toward greater maturity and effectiveness in reaching the lost of
Novosibirsk. With a membership of over 30, the Holy Spirit is already raising up and
equipping leaders from among the Russians to lead the church through the 21st
century. We watch with eager expectation as the Lord uses the church in Novosibirsk to
transform all of Russia into His likeness.
In 1994, we planted a church in Tomsk, Siberia.
This church continues to grow towards maturity as God gives the increase. With three
American missionary families working with the congregation, it now has two full-time
Russian evangelists and over 100 members. Several Russians converted in the Tomsk church
have moved to other cities in Russia and become full-time ministers or greatly needed
servant leaders in the Kingdom. A highlight of 2002 was when the Tomsk church sent
it’s first Russian-led campaign to Rostov!
The dream to evangelize the world begins when one or many offer themselves as living
sacrifices for the glory of God. Motivated by His mercy, we continually witness the hand
of God in our mission efforts around the world. Join us as we seek to fulfill the greatest
commission given to man - the evangelization of the world with the "Good News"
of Jesus Christ!
